Calculating the Patron Price |

|
All prices presented to the patron are referred to as the Patron Price (Recommended Retail Price). This price will always be rounded to two decimal places to allow for consistent prices for sales and reporting purposes over any reporting period. The pre-tax price and tax rate are always calculated to three decimal places. All reports always represent the $ value = Quantity * Patron Price for one item.
The Patron Price is calculated as follows: if Flat Tax then Patron Price = Pre-Tax Price + Tax else Patron Price = Pre-Tax Price + (Pre-Tax Price * Tax)
What this means is that some patron prices will never round correctly to two decimals when using a tax rate percentage, in these circumstances it is necessary to use a flat tax amount to round correctly.
A tax calculator is available from all areas where a patron price is required by <right-clinking> on the Patron Price field.
for example A $6.00 item with a tax rate of 10% will be required to use a flat tax of 0.545 in order to round correctly to two decimal places.
