Departments allow a number of terminals to be configured seperately depending upon their area. For example: the Box Office may be limited to selling merchandise such as vouchers, promotional materials, etc whilst the Candy Bar can only sell confectionary, drinks, etc.
Store rooms are areas that can only store stock items which are may or may not be available for sale. Store rooms can not be allocated to terminals as a location from which to sell products.
To create a new entry, press the [New] and enter the details in the appropriate fields. If the Head Office module has been activated then a list of pre-defined departments will appear to select from. To change the details of an existing department, select the item from the list and press [Edit]. Change the details and press [Save], or [Undo] to cancel the current changes.
To delete a department, select the item from the list and press [Delete].
Department # A unique number identifying each department. The following departments have special meaning and should not be changed:
Name The name of the department.
Sub-Totals Displays a running sub-total on Quest Candy Bar terminals. (default on)
Display Delay The number of seconds of idle time before the Date and Time or Next Customer message will be displayed on the Candy Bar Terminals after each sale has been completed. (Default 5 seconds) This option does not apply to PC based candy bar terminals.
Sign On Required If users are required to sign on/off (creates a separate shift for each user) on the Quest Candy Bar terminals then this option should be checked. Otherwise all Candy bar sales will be created under the special SHOWPOS user for each new day (i.e. open till). This option does not apply to PC based candy bar terminals.
Store Room This determines if a department is only to be used as a store room (checked) i.e. it can only be used for storing stock items (not for sale). Otherwise the department is able to sell products (i.e. Products can only be sold from departments that are not store rooms).
Important Note: A matching Shift Type must be created for all departments that are NOT store rooms. Failing to do so will result in amounts not been reported on the Banking and End of Shift reports in the End of Day/Shift Cash Summary until the matching Shift Type is created.
Level 1 Text, Level 2 Text, Level 3 Text and Level 4 Text These are the text labels and the number of columns (4..8 columns) that are shown on the Candy bar/Other Items product selection forms. The default names are:
ShowPOS Receipt Format This is the text that will appear as the Receipt Header and Footer on any receipts that are printed directly from the Quest Candy Bar terminals. (A simple serial text printer is required to be attached directly to at least one Quest Terminal).
The following codes have special meanings:
