Users Permissions-FRCWD

Top  Previous  Next

Anyone who uses the software must first have a valid User name and Password given by the Administrator or a user with privileges to add users.

To add a new user, press [New], the password must be entered by the Administrator and told only to the user. As an option, you can allow the user to sign on with a magnetic card rather than forcing them to remember the User name and Password. Press [Card], swipe the card through the reader twice and press [Accept]. When all the details are correct, press [Save], otherwise you may cancel the whole operation by pressing Undo.

To change the details for a user (eg. if the user forgot their password), select the user from the list and press the [Edit] button. Change the details and press [Save], or [Undo] to cancel the current changes.

Surname

The surname of the user.

First Name

The first and other names of the user.

User name

A word which the user will use to sign on and which will appear on the Quest Candy Bar terminals.

Password

A word which the user must be easily able to recall. It should not be something that could be easily guessed by someone intent on breaking into the system, eg. Wife's name, birth date etc.

Allow Sign On

Determines if a user can sign on to the software.

User Groups

The user groups of a user determines what functions they may be able to perform. See Security Settings for a complete explanation of what these functions entail.

There are two fixed User Groups that have been pre-defined and may not be changed.

These are:

Prcarrow Administrator, should ONLY be assigned to those who require access to all functions

Prcarrow Everyone, no access to any functions

ShowPOS

This is a number (2..32000) which is used to sign on to the Quest Candy Bar terminals. This number MUST BE UNIQUE. (if the Head Office module has been activated the this code should be assigned by Head Office). ShowPOS code 1 is a special user which is assigned when no user sign on is required. (see Departments and Store Rooms). ShowPOS code 0 will disallow this user from signing on to the Quest Candy Bar terminal.

Failure to assign a unique number will result in all sales for the user being assigned to another user.

For example:

If the following users have been created:

Prcarrow John a ShowPOS code of 1111,

Prcarrow Mary a ShowPOS code of 1112

Prcarrow James a ShowPOS code of 1111

Then the following would scenario would apply; Every time James signed on with 1111 and made any sales, because the code is not unique, Showcase will lookup the first matching ShowPOS code which will result in all of James sales being assigned to John.
