Showcase POS

Top  Previous  Next

This is where all users will generally sign on when performing day-to-day sales. It provides the functions to sell tickets and Candy bar Items depending upon the User Rights of the individual user. It can also serve as the ShowPOS monitor server when candy bar terminals are used.

Starting Up

The first screen upon starting Showcase displays the main menu which allows a user to determine what type of operation will be performed on this terminal. Each option has certain restrictions determined by a user's level of access. This is the screen to which each point of sale terminal should be left when they have finished using the terminal (if they are left powered on when not in use).

The options are as follows:

Prcarrow Candy Bar - allows a user to only Candy Bar items (computer based)

Prcarrow Show POS - Separate module for Showcase Candy bar using a specialised keypad. (Candy Bar Server only)

Prcarrow Management - allows a System Manager to configure Showcase and Supervisors to print any sales reports.

Prcarrow Backup - maintenance function that allows a backup to be performed.

Prcarrow External - maintenance function that allows a backup to be saved on a external removable disk.

Prcarrow Support - Software upgrades, data repair and recovery functions

Prcarrow About - This contains information about the current version and server connection settings.

Prcarrow Shutdown - Shutdown the terminal ready to be powered off.

Shutting Down

It is important that all terminals be turned off in an orderly manner to prevent any damage and/or data loss to any software that may be running. This is extremely important where there is more than one terminal being used to store data.

WARNING:

if more than one terminal is using Showcase at your site, then the terminal acting as the Showcase Server should be shutdown LAST, after signing off from Showcase on all other terminals. This does not apply to the Candy Bar ShowPOS terminals as they are able to run in standalone mode for extended periods.

To shutdown the terminal normally press [Shutdown], you will then be given the option of continuing to shutdown the terminal down, if the user presses [Yes], a second option will be available:

Prcarrow Yes will prepare the terminal to be powered off,

Prcarrow No will exit Showcase and return the user to the Standard Windows Desktop.
