If you are having trouble printing reports when signed on in windows with a Restricted Account, then we need to change the default way that windows handles security. This is caused by the user not having the rights to modify report files previously created by a non-restricted account.

 

Generally the Properties tab when you <right-click> on any file or folder will look similar to this (i.e. Security tab is not visible).

 

Properties - No Security

 

If the Security tab is visible then skip Step 1.

 

Step 1) To change the standard security settings you will need to do the following:

Try one of the following methods:

Method a)

Prcarrow sign on windows as an Administrator

Prcarrow open My Computer

Prcarrow select Tools

Prcarrow select Folder Options

Prcarrow select View Tab

Prcarrow under Advance Settings unselect Use Simple file sharing

Prcarrow press <Apply> and press <Ok>

Method b)

Prcarrow sign on windows as an Administrator

Prcarrow select Start

Prcarrow select Run

Prcarrow type GPEDIT.MSC and press <OK>

Prcarrow select Local Computer Policy

Prcarrow select Computer Configuration

Prcarrow select Windows Settings

Prcarrow select Security Settings

Prcarrow select Local Policies

Prcarrow select Security Options

Prcarrow <double-click> the policy Network Access: Sharing and security model for local accounts

Prcarrow change value from Guest Only - Local users authenticate as Guest to Classic -local users authenticate as themselves

Prcarrow press <Apply> and press <Ok>

 

Group Policy Editor

 

Once the above change has been completed then the Properties tab when you <right-click> on any file or folder will look similar to this (i.e. Security tab is visible). You will now be able to allocate permissions based for files and folders for specific user groups and users.

Step 2) To change the permissions for showcase do the following:

Prcarrow select <C:> drive (usually)

Prcarrow <right-click> SHOWCASE folder

Prcarrow select Properties

Prcarrow select Security tab

Prcarrow select the users group or username

Prcarrow select the Allow option for Modify, Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read and Write permissions.

Prcarrow select <Ok>

This should now allow the reports to be created.
